We suggest you keep the dome (transparent cap) on until you see the sprouts almost reaching it - just like shown in the picture below. The dome is there to create greenhouse-like conditions for the seeds to start sprouting faster and more effectively.
There is no need to remove the white U-shaped lids. These lids optimise water consumption by helping to reduce water evaporation from the soil. They also minimise the amount of space between the lid and soil so mold can’t thrive. Furthermore, by covering the majority of the soil’s surface from the light, they make it more difficult for algae to grow.
Also, remember to keep your domes, lids and cups as they are reusable!
